H&H transports biosolids from wastewater treatment plants to farms and ranches all throughout Florida. Once the product arrives to one of 35 permitted sites, H&H personnel disperse the residuals strictly following DEP and landowner regulations.
In 2008, we applied 68,000 dry tons of residuals to more than 30,380 acres. We have contracts with more than 50 wastewater treatment plants.
Class AA Fertilizer
Class AA fertilizer serves as an excellent alternative to synthetic fertilizer. To be considered Class AA, all pathogens and metal content must meet EPA parameters. Then, it can be land applied as a completely natural, organic fertilizer to residential, commercial and agricultural land. Our pelletized “green power” Class AA fertilizer contains active ingredients that accelerate crop growth.
Organic Fuel
Millions of tons of domestic waste is processed each year. About half is land applied, and the other half either disposed in a landfill or incinerated. These methods have been the only solutions to biosolids disposal, until recently. H&H has developed “AIM-FUEL,” an alternative energy source composed of dehydrated biosolids and other renewable and recycled, organic waste commodities. “AIM-FUEL” produces heat and BTU values similar to coal, lowers energy costs and reduces CO2 emissions into the environment.
Environmental wellness is a key element in our industry. This economical product offers an alternative energy source and a safer, more efficient product for the environment and community.
Land Application
Land application is the primary method of recycling domestic biosolids and serves as a soil-conditioning process for ranches, farms and citrus groves. This reduces landfill and incineration disposal methods that may have a negative impact on the environment, and is an excellent method to avoid nitrogen leeching. H&H management and field personnel have transported and land applied biosolids for 31 years, strictly adhering to DEP and local regulations to ensure the safety of the community, land and livestock. In Florida, most domestic biosolids are treated to Class B. The land application of this class is heavily regulated due its pathogens and metal composition. Sites that utilize Class B are restricted to the public and have a 30-day cattle grazing period. H&H field personnel are trained to manage land application by knowing soil to sludge ratios and metal contents, as well as adhering to all EPA and safety regulations.
Logistics
H&H provides specialized hauling of domestic, industrial and agricultural waste commodities to more than 50 plants from various Florida locations. Our bigger clients include Miami-Dade, Palm Beach County, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton. We utilize independent and company drivers to haul the waste from the plant to the site or to our biofuel facility. Our logistic coordinators operate on a Qualcomm system to communicate assignments to drivers while maintaining positive relationships with vendors, site owners and plant operators.
